Deputy Prime Minister Lê Văn Thành requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to amend the law and legal documents in quarter II of 2022 to remove the quarantine regulation for frozen processed seafood products imported for domestic processing for export purpose but domestic consumption.
The Ministry is requested to continue reviewing, reducing, and simplifying the list of products subject to quarantine for importation, especially the ones that must go through both quarantine and quality inspection.
On January 13, 2022, MARD submitted an official document no. 263/BNN-TY reporting the results of proceeding recommendations given by VASEP. The report stated that in quarter II of 2022, MARD will issue a Circular to remove quarantine regulations for frozen processed seafood products imported for domestic processing for export purpose but domestic consumption
As for the recommendation of removing quarantine regulations for processed seafood products imported for domestic consumption without leaving any potential risks of epidemic spread in Vietnam (such as frozen processed seafood products and dried processed seafood products used as food), MARD said that they took processed seafood products such as dried, smoked, salted, fermented products out of the list under quarantine regulations.
MARD said that companies are not required to hand in papers for quarantine procedures. The quarantine procedure for seafood products has been proceeded on by the National Portal Office with 95% of the submitted documents fulfilled.
